Solar System Scope — Solar System Textures

Solar System Scope / INOVE

Maps applied to spheres with artistic orientation and lighting. The collection includes colour enhancement and gap filling; Ceres is explicitly fictional. The lunar map is also reused for companion moons. It is not the source of the ring textures, which are procedural.

Pillars of Creation Model for 3D Printing — All Four Pillars (Positioning Reference).stl

NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI; Leah Hustak and Ralf Crawford (credit recorded in the local manifest)

Public NASA/STScI page; confirm the specific terms for the model and its derivatives

Positioning-reference STL, without a printing base, reduced to 118,124 triangles. Numerically registered to the Hubble silhouette (scale 1.725, height 8.63 ly at the adopted distance of 6,992 ly) and rotated into the local frame; the former synthetic 160 × 256 × 288 density was replaced by a depth envelope with ionised skin and scattering (PNG atlas). It is not an observed density cube.

M16 / NGC 6611 — stars, gas and adopted geometry

CDS/SIMBAD; Sana et al. (2009), parameters from Dufton et al. (2006); McLeod et al. (2015)

Scientific values transcribed; depth geometry, brightness scale and layer profiles are assumptions documented in data/eagle-model.json.

Eight systems with ICRS coordinates, temperature and luminosity; assumed depth plane (3.2 ly behind the plane of the Pillars); blackbody spectra; fifteen optical lines and density limits inform the emission. The voyage axis points to the registered Pillars (l=16.890922°, b=0.753177°), not to the catalogue centre of the cluster. Fixed exposure; no physiological calibration.

Public photograph used as a morphology map of the wide field

ESO0926a — Eagle Nebula (WFI, B/V/R)

ESO

CC BY 4.0 (ESO). Modifications: stars removed and filled in, inversion of the press enhancement by a power law (exponent 2.4), decomposition into emission envelope and optical depth, resampling into the local frame. The original photograph is not distributed; the derived map is.

Field of 32.08′, north up, centre 18h18m48.01s −13°49′11.8″; the declared WCS was checked against the eight SIMBAD positions (deviations of a few arcseconds). Map of 2048 × 2048 texels covering 64 ly at 6,992 ly, with 4 ly of fade at the edges. Channels: line emission, optical depth of the dust lanes and parent cloud, scattered continuum (separated by B/V/R colour).

Public photograph used as a morphology map of the near field

heic1501a — Pillars of Creation (Hubble WFC3, [O III]/Hα/[S II])

NASA, ESA/Hubble and the Hubble Heritage Team

CC BY 4.0 (ESA/Hubble). Modifications: numerical registration onto ESO0926a (rotation −35°), stars removed, quantile equalisation to the ESO brightness scale, used only for structures smaller than 0.08 ly; separation between the Pillars column and neighbouring lanes by the mesh footprint. The original photograph is not distributed; the derived map is.

Field of 4.53′ × 4.72′; narrow-band colour is not used as colour: only the relative brightness (Hα-weighted) enters the morphology. Map of 2048 × 2048 texels covering 12 ly.

References for the formulas and milestones 02

Publications identified from the code, the notes and the documents. The presence of a reference does not automatically validate every approximation in the simulation.

What is assumption or representation 03

  • Earth: Blue Marble surface and NASA cloud cover in spherical layers with continuous procedural detail. The Borealis base, facilities, terrain and nearby coastline are scenic; visual longitude fixed at −39.02°, latitude determined by the route axis and the pole. There is no real survey of the site and no daily rotation of the displayed geography. The camera sits 35 m above the vehicle reference. The fixed daytime transfer is separate from the stellar exposure. The sky loses brightness between 50 and 100 km by a visual rule requested by the user; it is neither an atmospheric law nor an abrupt physical boundary. The Earth's limb stays blue.
  • Trajectory with 1 g proper acceleration, a total dry mass of 100,000 kg and an ideal photon rocket. These are simulation assumptions, not specifications of a buildable ship.
  • The route geometry, the configured distance to M16, the final position chosen by the user and the alternating planet encounters are project parameters. There are no ephemerides and no computed gravity assist.
  • Smooth galactic dust, the diffuse Milky Way, approximate external galaxies, the Pillars density, rings, ice, rocks, the Local Bubble and jets are models or local effects. They are not new observational data.
  • Blackbody spectra, conversion to RGB, shield heat and human visibility use approximations. The CMB uses the monopole and the kinematic dipole, without primordial anisotropies, cosmological evolution or microwave transfer through the interstellar medium. Fixed exposure; no physiological adaptation is simulated.
  • M16: structure in the plane of the sky taken from public photographs (ESO0926a, heic1501a) after star removal and inversion of the enhancement; layer depth, brightness scale, ionised skin and scattering are stated assumptions. The NASA/STScI mesh, registered to Hubble, gives only the relative depths of the Pillars (measured height: 8.6 ly at 6,992 ly). There is no exact reconstruction of human perception.

  1. Cabin. Locate the origin, authorship and terms of use of cabin.png.
  2. Pillars STL. Archive the specific terms applicable to the STL and to the volumetric adaptation; a public download page is not, in itself, a universal licence.
  3. Ship's log, records, calendar and stars. Not every fact has an individual source. The comments cite NASA/JPL, SIMBAD, CRC Handbook, Zhang et al. (2011), IAU, Bland-Hawthorn & Gerhard (2016), Guinness, FAI, NOAA, OMM, CTB, IAAF and other references without a URL, edition or full record. Item-by-item checking is still pending; the automatic collection keeps the mentions in the record.
  4. Stellar milestone table. src/events/stars_data.js identifies HYG, but the historical generator it cites is not in this copy. The attribution and the licence were preserved; the full generation was not reproduced.

Technical record, dependencies and files not in use

  • Native HTML, CSS, JavaScript and WebGL2; no external runtime libraries identified.
  • Node.js, PowerShell, Python, NumPy and Pillow are preparation/verification tools; they are not packaged into the site.
  • A general licence for the code and original content has not been defined at this stage. Third-party licences keep their own scopes.
  • data/stars.bin — Legacy catalogue excluded from the current package; HYG licence kept in the local note.
  • data/route-dust.json — Result with no samples; it is not loaded by the current engine and does not prove the use of an observed map. The current packager still copies this metadata file.
  • data/raw/ — Inputs and preparation scripts, outside the publication. Original URLs in sources.json and in the planetary manifest.
  • backups/; proof/; ../supplier-desktop.png — Historical copies, proofs and a local reference outside the package. They do not justify inferring rights over the cabin.
